Friday Invention ideas - 19/09/2008

September 19, 2008

Skipped a week last week, not enough ideas floating around the noggin.

I planned to do 4 weeks of Friday invention ideas. Might keep going, but less frequently, maybe I’ve used up all the ideas floating around my head already.. thought there’d be more.

  • A version of Google which shows you the least relevant results for your search.
  • A video search that allows you to capture 10 second a video of a video your watching with your phone, send it to some web service and it will tell you the film its from.
  • An extension for Thunderbird that will tell you if you have mail from a particular person. Ideal if you don’t check your mail purposely to be productive but you want to be interrupted when you get a mail from a specific person.
  • Google Reader allows you to subscribe to the same RSS feed over and over again. It would be handy if it told you that you are already subscribed.

  1. Agree with you on the Google Reader one - also need an option to pull in comments from certain blogs under the posts - I never remember to subscribe to comments.

And I’m with you on the Thunderbird extension too - if I had a spare €1000 for my business I’d invest it with you for development!

  2. Same here Re: the Comments.

Do you mean use a spare €1000 for Thunderbird extension development or development in general ?

  3. For the extension. Although I don’t have a spare €1000 knocking about at the moment, so I reckon we’ll be living without the extension for a while more :)

  4. At least now I know that another person might use it if I go ahead and create it :)
