the hosting of our sites
Over the past few months, I have moved over 12 of our customers’ domains to Blacknight hosting. This year I will be moving or recommending all customers to Blacknight.
With 60 sites and growing, the majority of our sites are hosted with Webhost.ie and have been for several years. I have enjoyed a great relationship with Webhost.ie, they are always there to answer any questions or problems.
However, There are several reasons why I have chosen to begin moving the sites. The main reason is the level of support and information. In the past few months some sites have gone offline, these things happen, but there are times when we do not know why for several hours.
More than once we have been left twiddling our thumbs without any information while a site is offline and a customer is angry. In some cases this has interrupted purchasing transactions.
Blacknight provide a Hosting Network Status blog which informs their customers of upcoming updates, repairs or news. This is an excellent service and its not their only one.
I am recommending Blacknight to our customers for their:
- Support and interaction including their support ticketing system, live chat, Twitter presence and staff
- Lower costs and great offers. They are proactive and engage with the community.
- The Blacknight Blog and the Blacknight Status Blog
- Their server monitor

As a side note, as I write this I see the register365 have just started a Twitter account. Lets see if they use it as well as well as Blacknight. Interestingly their first Twitter post as far as I can see was “Our services suck so we’re not going to tweet that much“

I think it’s farily fair to assume the register365 twitter account is an impersonator
I guessed as much. Is anything being done about it?
This is of interest to me in an indirect way. In essence I haven’t a breeze about the technology behind your content here, and am not going to start having one any time soon, but what is patently clear is that two-way communication between service provider and user has never been more important to keep the customer satisfied. Something that banks-shut-at-three, post-office-back-at-two old Ireland never really had in its DNA. And Blacknight evidently does.
No idea Gordon - I think the lads over at Register365 have contacted twitter / the imposter (who I think is a kid).
Hi Stephen,
Not a kid
Gordon.
Cool
They mentioned he was 13 or something? (not sure how reliable that is ) :):)
Care to ‘reveal all’
Definitely not 13 as far as I can tell and its not me either. Wish I’d thought of it though.
