Tuesday Push: IGO People from Campbell Scott
Todays Tuesday Push is IGO People.
IGO is a social network for individuals, groups or organisations to interact with others. A user can post up a question for others to view and answer.
I signed up to get a feel for the programme and was happy to find plenty of people I already know signed up. I can tell I’ll be using it as a place to find answers in the future, especially if its anything to do with some of the organisations that have set up a presence there. Eircom, Ryanair and Flickr to name a few.
Sign up is quick and painless. Name, email address and password. I wasn’t signed up for too long before I got a message from the owner himself, Campbell Scott welcoming me to IGO. We talked briefly on the phone about IGO too after I tried breaking things by importing my feed from FriendFeed.
If you are looking for conversations to participate in you can view “All Updates†which shows recent comments across individual, group or organisation profiles. At a glance you can see how many people have viewed, commented or approve of something in the conversation.
Vodafone are using IGO to great effect at the moment with a Top-up giveaway.
The RSS feed for updates is great, in my view its a little better than the actual conversational view in the “My Updates†page. I’ll probably turn off the email notifications in favour of the RSS feed.
One thing I liked about Jaiku is how it separated out comments, replies and imported feeds with little changes in colour around the message. IGO does this on the “All updates†page but not the “My Updates†page.
IGO is a great resource for an individual and Im Looking forward to using it more, though I’ll be excited to see more and more organisations get onboard.
