creating a website in a week for jobless and proud

February 17, 2009

Joblessandproud.com is a new website set up for the author David Jones who recently wrote a book after being laid off from his job.

Rather than sitting around, David wrote this book to help people in a similar situation who are looking at an uncertain financial future for the first time.

His book “Oh No: I’ve Lost My Job What Am I Going To Do?” was written in a short few days. While talking about his book on Newstalk, Maryrose Lyons from Brightspark Consulting in Dublin contacted David and proposed developing a website to help him publicise his book in the same amount of time.

Maryrose gathered a team together consisting of Rachel Earley (Website  Graphic designer) , David McDonald (Book Graphic Designer), David Duignan (Photographer), Alex Gibson (Award winning Podcaster ) and myself to put the site together and make the functional stuff like Paypal work.

Each of us has worked together for the past few days at all hours and from all corners of the country  to get David’s Jobless and Proud website up and running.

Today for 1 day only, you can download David’s book for free. There have already been well over 500 downloads so far this morning. Tomorrow, you will be able to buy his book for only 4.99 Euro.

David was on Newstalk this morning making us all blush with his praise for the work over  the last few days. Later today, David will be on TV3 at lunchtime so tune in if you can.

It was a pleasure to work on this project, Maryrose kept everything moving and the Basecamp project management software was a superb fit for this project allowing us all to communicate and send files.

Visit joblessandproud.com now and take the opportunity to download Davids new book.

If you’re on Twitter, you can follow the talented people involved in developing the website in less than a week.

  13. Hi, I want to run a story on David and his book but can’t find contact details anywhere. Could someone who has contact with him email me his mobile number or get him to do so please (roisin@businessplus.ie). Thanks a million!
