experience with a temporary staff member
A few weeks ago I wrote a short post asking for advise on a temporary member of staff.
Last Friday marked the last day of Grzegorz’s 4 weeks of work experience working with eWrite. In a nutshell, I can’t praise him highly enough. From the very beginning he showed nothing but enthusiasm to get a job done. For the 4 weeks on board, Grzegorz he has worked on 1 particular project. This project is one of our biggest, it is a large scale project involving making a database and interface that is accessible to many users in many different offices around Ireland.
The first week Grzegorz imported a tonne of user data into the database. I initially thought that this would take weeks considering the dozens of files, fields, sheets and various file formats. Grzegorz knocked through them one by one and kept me posted along the way.
When it came to creating the database that would house this project Greg came into his own. Typically a database structure is nothing to get too excited about. His understanding of the database needs and attention to detail made me look like I was playing tiddlywinks with pigeon holes when it came to organizing the data we were being given.
As we talked about this project and the customer it was being developed for, Grzegorz understood the existing relationship with the client and offered sound suggestions on managing this project going forward.
The 4 weeks work experience that he was to complete is now finished but we continue to work with Grzegorz on this project. It has been a great experience so far and I’m looking forward to working on further projects with him. Thanks Grzegorz.
