Gordon Murray Automotive's rule-breaking T.50 has been named Hypercar of the Year at the TopGear.com Awards 2023. One of the automotive industry's most coveted accolades, the TopGear.com Hypercar of the Year award provides ultimate proof that Professor Gordon Murray OBE and his team have succeeded in their mission to design and engineer the purest, lightest and most driver-centric car ever.
The T.50's unprecedented combination of a Cosworth GMA 3.9-litre V12, the world's lightest, highest revving, most power-dense naturally aspirated engine, and the most advanced and effective aerodynamics ever seen on a road car, redefines the global supercar and hypercar sectors. Prior to announcing the 'Hypercar of the Year' title, Top Gear has recently given the T.50 a rare 10/10 review and proclaimed the 997kg, three-seater coupe "The best driver's car in the world."
Professor Gordon Murray, CBE: "From the inception of the T.50 project, my unwavering determination was to create a car that would deliver a wholly immersive driving experience the like of which the world had not seen before. Receiving the 'Hypercar of the Year' award from Top Gear validates our mission to create the world's greatest drivers' car."
Ollie Marriage, Head of Car Testing – BBC Top Gear, said: "The T.50's engineering rigour is endlessly relevant. There's no flab in this 997kg three-seater and none in its thinking – it's wonderfully clear-minded."
Phillip Lee, Gordon Murray Group CEO: "Top Gear's 'Hypercar of the Year' award sets the bar for performance across the global automotive sector. Winning it with the T.50 provides further proof of Gordon Murray Automotive's capability to operate at the cutting edge of supercar and hypercar design and engineering."
